I was a manager at Amazon. My boss encouraged me to quit
- gjvc 4y agoThe most dangerous thing is someone high in confidence and low of experience. Related: this is why I warn people not to get caught up in a startup unless the leadership has had multiple rounds of experience. You are exposing yourself to the whims of people who know no better, and with whom you could waste a lot of time and effort in dealing with. Also, Hanlon's Razor is a relevant tool in assessing these situations.
- detourdog 4y agoIf this story has any accuracy, it's a sorry statement on what passes for work and management at large companies. It sounds pretty plausible and I'm not surprised Amazon disagrees. I don't expect Amazon or the spokespersons to be self-aware. I feel really bad if this is the reality of work in 2023.

Also, Amazon spokes"people" are comically soulless. I can imagine well that they truly represent that Amazon culture. Would love to chat with one some day, if only to see whether there's still something behind the facade or whether the transformation is already complete.
