iirc he has been relatively in favor of Rust, but yeah. No need to rewrite, you can swap pieces incrementally, like many enormous, important systems are now doing. The C ABI is essentially fine / good enough, and is nearly the lingua franca of computing.

...which is all the more reason to not break the ABI, right? Isn't that the only hope of any kind of interop?
