Proud Boys war on drag is fueling a surge in anti-LGBTQ+ protests across the US
- transfire 4y agoThe LBGTQ+ community is shooting themselves in the foot by over-representing in movies and tv shows. From what I understand there are some organization(s) in Hollywood that have gained substantial power that pressure film makers to include LBGTQ+ characters and couples. But what has been the result? You can barely watch a single show these days without their agenda being forced to the fore of the story. I think there might be fewer heterosexual relationships now than not. It’s just too much and tiresome. But worse, it leading to a surge of anti-LGBTQ+ behavior by those who are less tolerant.

- EEMac 4y agoIt's interesting how national media reports this. Whether you agree with them or not, Proud Boys are incredibly clear about protesting all-ages drag shows. "18+ gets rid of us" is common chant. "Groomer" only applies to events with kids present. Yet the media reports it as a mysterious "war on drag," as though small-government types hate performance art. That's funny.
- a_shovel 4y agoThey protest all-ages drag shows because they view being transgender and other forms of gender-non-conformance as inherently deviant and perverted. They focus on all-ages drag shows so they can run a "think of the children" angle to get unwarranted sympathy. They absolutely oppose adults-only drag shows too.
