I love that we’re in an age where folk art is resurgent and that you can raise enough money to commit time to your art and get it seen. But copyright is what enables some of the big cultural spectacles that a lot of us enjoy, like bookstores and galleries and professional editors/finishers and blockbusters and broadway shows, etc etc. Without copyright, these industries aren’t sustainable and grand art becomes dependent entirely on arbitrary patronage by the aristocracy and government. For what ills there are to capitalism, these billion dollar art industries have their upsides.
