Normally this sort of stuff wouldn't even be reported to media, right? I've seen some people elsewhere imply that it could have something to do with keeping attention off the happenings in Ohio...
- King-Aaron 4y ago> I've seen some people elsewhere imply that it could have something to do with keeping attention off the happenings in Ohio See I seem to notice there's a BIG correlation between people saying that, with the people that frequent all the facebook/instagram/etc 'alternative' news pages that heavily cover the Ukraine wars etc. Echo chamber folks that are seeing heaps of posts about the balloons because it's good content for those kinds of subscribers. In a lot of the traditional media outlets, I've been seeing far more reporting on Ohio than on these balloons. However the first of these big balloon incursions was highly visible to people on the ground, which helped drive it into the media attention. If the general public hadn't been able to see it themselves, I don't think there would have been nearly as much follow-up attention to the other objects.
- skyyler 4y agoThe only news media I consume in any form is the NBC Nightly News. There has been a considerable amount of attention for the balloons. Ohio has been mentioned a few times. It doesn't seem like it's getting the attention it deserves, but maybe I only feel like that because my hometown is in NE Ohio and this situation is more important in my head than it actually is.

It's also designed to keep attention off the floods in New Zealand, the earthquake in Turkey and Syria, the war in Ukraine, and most especially it is designed as a distraction from Blake Lively giving birth to her fourth child. The name and gender of the new baby have not been revealed. It's a total cover-up.
- micromacrofoot 4y agoI don’t think it’s so tin foil hatty… but it does seem like it’s intentionally being made a bigger deal than it is? why is this being handled so publicly
- clouddrover 4y ago> I don’t think it’s so tin foil hatty True, it's more bug-eyed crazy than tin foil hatty.
