Other than on a few select items like gasoline, there is no national sales tax (and I'm guessing that the federal tax on gasoline is classified as something other than sales tax), so yes, this makes it impossible to post a tax included price in any mass media type communication. But when advertising on the individual level where the location of the transaction is known, they can determine the taxes and fees ahead of time.
