Electric motors seem like the best way to combine huge amounts of torque and silence, which is what Rolls Royce is traditionally known for. Environmental consciousness or not.
Some say the most famous automotive ad tagline of all time is "At 60 miles an hour the loudest noise in this new Rolls-Royce comes from the electric clock".
They also used a knock-off of GM's "Hydra-Matic" automatic transmission for many years, because, you know, who else's design would be suitable for wafting down the road with perfect serenity?
I say nothing is more in character than an electric Rolls.
