Ask HN: Where to get a cool research-oriented job?

I've noticed I have a tendency to do totally out-there stuff (my github is full of unusual things and so are the things that I haven't published like facial gesture recognition). Where is a good place to find a cool research-oriented job such as prototyping new things? I don't have too many formal academic credentials.
