The browser should be a dumb virtual machine, for the same reason that we shouldn't be hard-coding the latest version of Python into CPUs and then demanding firmware or even hardware updates to get a new language feature. I can sit down as a single person and build an emulator that runs every single program available a video game console and yet thousands of engineers and hundreds of millions of dollars can't build a fucking web browser anymore?! It is utter madness, and it is the fault of people like yourself :(.
