People assuming these are all balloons: please explain why they shutting down airspace without a statement. If they think its a balloon, why not just say 'rada

People assuming these are all balloons: please explain why they shutting down airspace without a statement. If they think its a balloon, why not just say 'radar detected a probable balloon and we are shutting down airspace while it is being investigated.' Why was the incident over Alaska described as a metal cylinder or whatever if its another probably balloon? This doesn't make much sense.
