This article is specifically talking about C, a language well-known to be _full_ of traps and bad design decisions. Most of the arguments have _nothing_ to do with generally "unsafe" languages, and instead criticise C for its sometimes terrible design.
Don't get me wrong, it's a good argument for not using C, but a bad one for not using "unsafe" languages. I just think it missed the point a bit.
