Telegram is the least trustworthy chat messenger, even less than WhatsApp.
Its has no real E2EE chats, only secure chats that are feature crippled and aren't supported on all clients.
It also costs a crazy amount of money to host, unlike WhatsApp, telegram stores everything, every photo, every message, every video, they got to subsidize that somehow, and for a long time we were just told the Telegram's founder is paying for it(BS), and The newly introduced subscriptions aren't even close to covering the hosting costs.
something gotta give, and having no encryption, justified by inaccurate reasons doesn't inspire confidence.
And if that's not enough, telegram took usernames from user channels and sold them for crappy crypto, including brand names that can for sure be used for scams.
