  An interesting set of variables here: - The balloons have been known about for years - They are spying, by all credible accounts, on a variety of countries - The US has a lot to lose in such conditions, but has done virtually nothing public about it, until the public raised a cry This makes me wonder how much intel or other leverage the US may have, directly, from the internals of the PLA program itself.
