The distribution of fossils between continents was one of the pieces of evidence used to support the hypothesis of continental drift and plate tectonics. This species is particularly fascinating because it is only found in Japan and parts of Texas. No one has a good explanation for why, although no one is suggesting an ancient civilization did it.
