Responding to Ted Chiang
- brookst 4y agoSo much respect for Chiang, but his GPT essay was just dumb. This is a good rebuttal. I’m so surprised and disappointed that Chiang fell for forming opinions based off of metaphors rather than the real thing. Like, obviously airplanes can’t fly because they are kind of like beer cans with wings. It seems obvious (?) that one should take care to understand new tech before categorically dismissing (or celebrating) it.
