What are some good, cross-platform, permissively licensed alternatives? I also mostly try to avoid the C standard library because I can’t be bothered to remember which functions are flawed and which are (mostly) safe to use. But I really don’t like to write my own platform-specific wrappers for e.g. converting between string encodings.
