I think it would be cool to see it for comments but it could be a bit too distracting as well. The idea
to
not be obsessed with number of upvotes. Not showing comment upvotes beyond 4 might be a good idea in that regard.
- satvikpendem 4y agoPosts can be downvoted, if you have enough karma. This ensures that only people who have sufficiently interacted with HN (and therefore, hopefully, soundness of mind) to downvote only when off-topic, rather than on Reddit which is more for disagreement.
- the_only_law 4y agoWhat the threshold? I have more “karma” than you and can only downvote comments, not posts > which is more for disagreement. That’s exactly what it is here. Paul Graham even said downvoting for disagreement is fine.
- satvikpendem 4y agoAh I read the parent comment incorrectly, replace posts with comments. I'm not if anyone can downvote posts either.
