German call for English to be second official language amid labour shortage
- franczesko 4y agoEnglish, even if unofficially, already is a second official language - at least across Europe. It's not only a lingua franca, but a common ground for all of the different nationalities working together. IMO making it official across EU would simply formalize the status quo.
- themodelplumber 4y agoI wonder how much computer source code has to do with this result. Even if we were to include HTML in that, given factors like the copy-paste propagation of web design & front end knowledge. And considering how many careers were made this way. Sure, there are languages in different languages. But also, not as much as one might have expected.
- franczesko 4y agoI think that beyond computer source code, which is more specific mostly to 1 industry, the Internet played a role in that for sure. It's remarkable that people around the globe can understand and laugh at the same things, almost at the same time.

- qualudeheart 4y agoLabor shortage will be fake soon. Automation will eat jobs faster than humans can fill them.
