"They will take leftover rock from a defunct asbestos mine in Quebec, extract magnesium hydroxide—an antacid that is the main component in milk of magnesia—and stir it into water flowing into the ocean from a sewage treatment plant. The company hasn’t announced the location of the experiment."
I hope they don't end up with asbestos sand dunes.
The graphic shows mining of limestone with some cute little trucks hauling the rock it about. I would have thought using a marine source would cut the on-land middleman. Then again, I don't know if it's enough to simply mine and crush some rocks from under the sea and send plumes of carbonate sediment into the gulf stream to be distributed far and wide. One man's turbid shores might be another's carbon sink.
