Cloudflare wants to help you set up your own Mastodon server in ‘minutes’
- flangola7 4y agoCloudflare is the opposite of de-centralization.
- rsynnott 4y agoThis was inevitable, and for some people will be a very good solution (in particular, for those who don't want to trust a third party but don't want to faff around with Mastodon's intimidating Ruby stack for their single-person instance). It would be concerning if it took over the world, but as one set of participants in a decentralised network it doesn't seem like a huge problem. Realistically not everyone is going to run mastodon on a computer in their basement, and failing that there's going to be _some_ centralisation anyway. I do hope that this gets forked and de-cloudflared, tho. Nothing wrong with having a couple of implementations.
