- hunglee2 4y agoVery difficult challenge, examples are slim of any persistent successes in reversing population decline once it gets started - and two of the most prominent are referenced in this surprisingly good article from the NYT. Good news is that governance in China can be surprisingly decentralised, with lots of local government policy experimentation, following the central guideline 'have more kids'. We should see multiple efforts from different provinces trying different incentives to reverse the trend, such as cash incentive direct to mothers in Guangdong recently. None of them will likely work, but the rate of experimentation might be high enough for one of them to hit home
