Why not skew, mask and blur with photoshop in 10 seconds?
- warent 4y agoyou mean aside from the fact that it requires downloading a huge multi-purpose program that starts at $21/mo which is built for significantly more than just those features and the user must use a lot more brain space for what they want to be a simple task?
- kilgnad 4y agoOr gimp. "Photoshop" is the all encompassing term for these editors. This task is actually quite trivial, but there is a bit of a learning curve for someone who knows absolutely nothing about photo editing.
- rzzzt 4y agoFor a Linux user, you can already build such a system yourself quite trivially by using PHP's ImageMagick extension to modify the uploaded image file.
- JKCalhoun 4y agoI wonder can ImageMagick give you the "progressive linear blur" (or whatever you want to call it) that emulates depth of field? Might as well ray trace it....
- rzzzt 4y agoMy comment was mostly tongue-in-cheek. mih in a sibling thread added a link to actually useful IM scripts however, one of which supports variable blur using a mask (scroll below the table and parameters for example pictures): http://www.fmwconcepts.com/imagemagick/variableblur/index.php http://www.fmwconcepts.com/imagemagick/variableblur/index.ph...

- crazygringo 4y agoDo it for free with Photopea. And this would be just about one of the easiest "Photoshop tutorials" there is to follow.
- llsf 4y agoPhotopea is nice, but their website is not friendly. I could see why people would prefer to pay and have a simple website to use.

- suddenclarity 4y agoThat was my thought as well and you can go even further by just making it a script. Which begs the question: why is this a subscription service and not the script.
