Poll: What is your favorite programming language?
- dionidium 15y agoThe question is posed as singular, but just to make it explicit: should we select more than one?
- gnosis 15y agoHN's polling interface can not forbid you from choosing more than one, so I suppose you could select more than one, if you wanted to. Personally, I would like to know what everyone's one favorite language is. But if you select more than one, I don't see it as a big deal. That information would also be valuable.
- steventruong 15y agoIdeally it'd be the language that has yet been invented ;)
- haffi112 15y agoYou missed the Morpho programming language (http://morpho.cs.hi.is/index.html http://morpho.cs.hi.is/index.html).
- gnosis 15y agoI've read some estimates of there being over 2,000 programming languages -- so it's probably fair to say I missed more than one. I think I got all the major ones, though. If you have a favorite not on the list, just add it below here, and I'll put in the next favorite language survey. I'll also put in in the result summary. Edit: actually, maybe not.. I see I missed O'Caml. I would have also have liked to have included Arc. There have got to be some Arc fans on HN.
- Peteris 15y agoWhat about Clojure?
- tom_b 15y agoAny one that has tools that let me create little DSLs easily (see treetop - ruby, common lisp in general).
- kruhft 15y agoAny lisp...s-expresions are the structure of code.

Also mentioned below were Arc, Clojure, Morpho, and O'Caml, though it wasn't clear whether they were mentioned for the sake of completeness or because they were someone's favorite language. So I'm not listing them as receiving any votes.
