This reminded me of one of our society's most twisted and grotesque norms, forcing people on their deathbed to die "naturally", meaning to starve and dehydrate to death while being pumped full of opioids, instead of mercifully and humanely ending their life. We treat animals better than this. I hope by the time it's my turn my family is able to end my life once the outcome is certain instead of watching me waste away day after day in a hospital bed until my body finally fails.
