I got myself one recently. I haven't been able to play games for years due to time commitments, unwillingness to look after a gaming PC, etc. I fell in love with The Long Dark during a bout of COVID, and the Steam Deck allows me to play it (and many other games I since then enjoyed) when I'm in bed at the end of a long day. It also allows me to work through a vast library of games that I purchased discounted on various occasions and never had the time to play. Pros: great hardware, games run seamlessly, allows me to play in places I couldn't play before, Desktop Mode gives you effectively a beefy Linux desktop computer. Cons: I wish SteamOS hadn't been modified in such a way that I can't create multiple desktop users out of the box, which limits my use cases. I would love to do some personal projects on it when in Desktop Mode, but I want to have a user that I can trust to be private (and preferably encrypted).
