Has anyone messed around with building their own Steam Machine with the OS yet? It's easy to build a SFF PC with state of the art graphics card and still be smaller than a PS5. (But not cheaper.) I've been thinking of building another one to run the Steam OS and leave it hooked up to the TV. Then I'll never need to own a video game console again.
- mariusor 4y agoI have[1], but this was during the time of the official Steam machines (ie, 4-5 years ago). I never had the heart to leave just Steam OS on it, most of the time it functioned as a dev machine as it was quite a bit beefier than my laptop. - hddherman 4y agoI gave it a go [0], but there are also other people out there who have installed HoloISO (Steam OS 3 but not official) on various hardware, like ETA PRIME on YouTube [1].
