"The digital currency won't make any of that worse." I understand the argument but I suspect in practice you will be less susceptible to the predations of your bank and substantially more susceptible to the predations of your government. At which point you should ask yourself, is it easier for me to change my bank or my government?

Well, I've found it easier to move countries than to move banks, personally.

  I predict people will soon run out of countries to move to. This will be implemented everywhere eventually, sadly.
