Food stamps are traded for cash all the time. You get less on the dollar, but people still do it in order to use it for other things.
- notch898a 4y agoYeah this is why I hate food stamps. You can literally go to any hood, walk in front of the grocery store, and there is a burgeoning black market for the stamps (actually EBT card). They function as (discounted) cash for people who want them to be cash. Just give the cash to everyone instead of this ridiculous failed program with overhead to make sure it's just spent on food. Families actually spending it on food would have more money then because you could cut the overhead costs and pay it out to everyone.
