Thank you for sharing your experience. I wish the discussion here had been more robust. If it was programming, people would have offered a range of ways to understand and navigate this situation. It would be based on both experience as well as scholarly theory. For instance we often get to hear from functional programmers, some backed by the deep foundations in theory. Yet here we seem ill equipped and unprepared.
