Many (or most) of the natural marble kitchen countertops are radioactive, especially the dark spots. Perhaps not hazardous, if epoxy glazed. If I were to build a house, I would walk all materials with a geiger counter, especially alpha particles. Sometimes difficult to replace material, if it is already worked into the structure.
