A family I knew in Montgomery County, Maryland, dumped the pepper out of its Fiestaware shaker and took it to a fire station's test-your-stuff day. My recollection is that the pepper was not hazardous.

- cafard 4y agoI don't know why. Perhaps because I never heard of hazardous substance days at firehouses elsewhere. Perhaps because it sounds less as if I made up the story.

- ender341341 4y agoNot necessarily a day, but I know that it's not uncommon for fire departments to do similar things for testing items for lead.
