Exactly this happened to us recently and we ended up switching to a different brand printer a couple weeks ago. What is really strange is they must have done this like a ban hammer and why now? Our printer had been on an expired card for for literal years (ran out of black ink ages ago, but could use all the colors the same). Edit: also kind of funny to see the printer we changed over to mentioned in this thread as a common replacement.
