The problem with these summary tools is that the AI doesnt actually know what is salient to a human. I have used many such tools and each time it misses out items which I thought where very important. So I end up running the process multiple times and manually editing to get a summary that I am happy conveys the content of the article. If you use these summary tools one time then you don't know if you are missing key info or not.
- totetsu 4y agoI was thinking about this problem too. unless the full text is in very formalised languae and format, the language model making a summary of it cant possibly know whats salient, because that involves having a conceptual model of the world and to relate the important parts of the text to.
