How long before OpenAI needs to hire security for their office and maybe even private security for their workers? In the past, it could take decades before a technology goes mainstream. It was usually a slow grind to adoption. But with AI, it feels like progress is moving so fast that entire occupations could disappear in 1-2 years. Society could go through bumpy rides because of this. Also, I'm not so sure how Sam Altman will be remembered. He seems to be positioning himself as the face of AI, whether he wants it or not. I'm not convinced that he understands how much hatred he's going to receive from people losing their jobs, government officials, citizens accusing AI of being biased towards the left or the right.[0] The last point will likely get amplified because he turned openAI from a non-profit to a for-profit company.
