Tell me what you guys feel about my data platform business
Hey guys, my name is Larry and I'm the founder of Connectome (https://www.connectomesystem.com/).
Connectome is a data platform company based in Hong Kong. We help companies who don't have a strong data capability to consolidate all their data and help them make use of them.
We know there are tools out there but very few of them focus on making it easy for the non-technical to get started with making use of the data. We focus on ingesting and managing the data while many focus on utilizing the data for AI, visualization, etc.
What are you guys initial reaction to this?
- GianFabien 4y agoI think that it is only the opinion of paying customers that matters. And they express their approval by opening their wallets. Having said that, in my experience the market you are addressing probably needs more than just a hosted product. Have you considered providing training, consulting, mentoring, even (dare I say it) contract services? Supporting the users of your free tier could easily become a huge cost. Really depends on the amount of runway you have while you chase enterprise deals which is a very competitive space.
- larryengineer 4y agoThank you so much for your feedback! Really thought-provoking. The first few clients I'm working with right now includes some training and consulting service (glad you mentioned that which reassure what I'm doing). Originally, I was trying to steer away from consultancy because I think it is not scalable plus many people are doing this type of work right now. On the other hand, I will try creating list of training (e.g youtube video) that enables people to better use my platform then.
