The difference between trans people and those other groups is that there is a sizable portion of the population who think that trans people are mentally ill, demonic, pedophiles, and deserving of death. Even then, there are jokes about trans people that trans people enjoy, but is it really hard to understand why “you’re destroying the fabric of society… nah just kidding” is not one of them for some people? It’s like going back to the 1930s and saying “why is it ok to make fun of the Irish but when I joke about Jews being a menace to society they take it seriously?”
