Hello,
Thank you very much for your feedback.
Let me give a reply to all of your points :
- The one and only goal of Sheetsify is to enable everyone to connect any form with Google Sheets, without coding or technical knowledge. If you know FormSpree, for instance, we use the same idea but try to make it easier for the average user, for Google Sheets specifically. Let's say you do lead generation, and manage ~20 sites on a monthly basis, where each site has X forms. With Sheetsify, you could connect each and every form to a dedicated Google Sheets document in no more than 3 clicks per form (or more if you customize settings), and a change in the form "action" attribute, either via copy-pasting our unique URL in the HTML code, or in your editor (Webflow, Elementor, etc.). In other words, we collect form data into Google Sheets documents, and try to make it super-duper easy.
- The permissions thing was a real "black dot" in this project, unfortunately. We did our best, and so far, the permission we ask for Drive is "surprisingly shallow". We ask for "drive.metadata.readonly" which means we can't access anything beyond documents' titles and meta. And this seems to be the lowest possible permission we can use to query Google Drive and find all Google Sheets documents in a user's Drive. The reason we ask for this permission is to enable users to click on the document they want to work with, as opposed to manually copy-pasting an ID from the URL. That said, if I understand correctly via your comment, you mentioned Google Picker API, and we had no idea this existed. Thank you so much for the information. We'll definitely look into that, hoping that even in the current version, people won't get repelled by the level of permissions required.
- Regarding testimonials, and to be crystal honest, the project has been out just recently, but it's the result of a "dogfooding" practice at our company. A lot of our clients needed to connect many forms with Google Sheets, and as we tried different solutions (N8N, Zapier, Custom code, etc.), we decided it would be easier and faster to make our own. So it's only now that we've taken the time to turn an internal tool into a real product with a subscription system, customizable settings, and a (IOHO) great UI.
Please feel free to let me know if you notice anything else, and thanks again very much for your comment.
