- sedawk 4y agoBesides rent, it is difficult to make this work in the United States, because important things like healthcare is tied to your employer, no employment means either no or very expensive private healthcare insurance :(

- ajsnigrutin 4y ago...and retirement? When you get old, you cannot work anymore, not even that much. Although, both (rent and retirement) can be achieved with some abuse of the social benefits in france.
- sofixa 4y agoThere is a minimal retirement pension in France even if you've never worked in your life, which is OK if you live frugally, don't have to pay rent, or have some previous savings (or a combination of those).
- saiya-jin 4y agoor having a family... having kids is relatively expensive even in France
