I found actual parametric modeling to be fairly straightfoward once you get used to all the commands, but things like Assembly which should be an integral part of CAD are far behind. In solidworks, its super easy to create an assembly, import your parts, set the constraints, see how things move, and measure distances. In Freecad, you have to use external workbenches, and it seems like there are 5 that do the above to a certain extent but not fully, and with many more steps.
