  Firefox has a nifty feature that switches you to https if it's available called "HTTPS-Only Mode". I encountered the certificate warning, too.

    And yet, in this case, it wasn't available, but you got switched anyway ;P. If we are going to go around doing these kind of rewrites on URLs we should probably give up on the various CORS rules that carefully separate these websites.
