How can I handle kids telling me boring stuff?
- gus_massa 4y agoJust ask why cherry are better than oak? Do they give fruit that you can eat? What about the wood? Is oak better than cherry? (Oak better than cherry IRL, isn't it?)
- matijash 4y agoI like this a lot! Asking clarifying questions - super easy to come up with, and it will keep the other side busy (and happy :))
- Sakos 4y agoThe skill of being able to engage in small talk seems relevant here, as well as the modern view that small talk is a waste of time. I mean, I agree. I'm not a fan of small talk, but I clearly recognize that it's impacted my ability to engage in low stake conversation about banal things that are to some degree important for day-to-day grooming of social contacts.
- matijash 4y agoYeah, well put. I guess it's much more about initiating the interaction and showing goodwill rather than the actual content.
