All popular media, most of the threads about AI on HN. It’s a solid trope.
- linuxdeveloper 4y agoChatGPT also thinks it's required: "It does matter, because consciousness is a key part of what makes us human. If an AGI robot is not conscious then it will lack certain characteristics that we associate with being human such as empathy, understanding and a sense of self. It is therefore important that we do our best to ensure that AGI robots are conscious if they are to be truly human-like in their behaviour."
- adastra22 4y agoMaybe it gets in the way of some people’s philosophical understanding. But I don’t see how it enters into the engineering considerations.
