People tried different things for many years and web apps won simply because they did what people want without the trouble of native apps.
Installing, maintaining, and securing native apps is too much trouble.
- effie 4y agoWeb apps can't work without at least one native app. If that native app can be installed, maintained and secured, so can the others. The real reason is HTML/JS/CSS is universal platform to code against, unlike myriad of OS-specific toolkits.
- cxr 4y agoThe author is not advocating for native apps over Web apps. That's not the pretext for this post, and if you're reading it (and the author's motives) through that lens, then you're reading it wrong. (In fact, they lament the domination of native mobile apps over Web apps—blaming "complexity merchants" for that outcome.)
