Sounds like this guy didn't "learn" anything. He just wasn't acquainted with the internet before. Also, his referring to the Irani person's tweet as "ethnonarcissism" is telling as to the author's own blindspots and obliviousness. Seems to me rather convincing that this is a first-world problem.
