HTML as a compile target: Embracing type-safe HTML
- donatj 4y agoThe unceremonious death of XHTML set us back a ways. For all the cool features HTML5 brought, we lost the guarantee of uniform parsing. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a lot better than it was. The browser manufacturers all sat down and agreed what to do in cases of different types of document malformations. It’s better than HTML4 certainly. XHTML5 was promoted along side HTML5, but never took off. The dream of a pure XML document that is either syntactically correct or does not render in my book still has a ton of value and still haunts me.
