We don't need to talk about your experience. Pick any game in ProtonDB that has a Platinum rating and you'll find 10 more that are lower because they have the issues I described.

- Gigachad 4y agoI could go to reddit and see every single game I play is buggy, unusable, and broken on Windows. But when I actually play them I see they are essentially perfect. The internet is great at exposing a million issues you'll never encounter yourself, often with undisclosed details about having mods or some extremely non conventional setup causing the problem. The reality is I game entirely on Linux and everything works perfect for me.
- Arnavion 4y agoAnd the reality is that I game entirely on Linux with a mix of Linux-native and Proton games. The Linux-native games work perfectly and the Proton games all have bugs.
- blooalien 4y agoMy experience is similar to yours, except that some of the Proton games have bugs, but still run quite excellently regardless, and most all of my Linux-native games run perfectly, but the few that don't do once Valve's "Steam Runtime for Linux" containerized thing is selected as a compatibility layer. Most games I play on Steam though just run when one clicks "Play", regardless of whether they're Linux-native or running via Proton (with the exception of those few that are still choosing to be actively Linux-hostile by purposely refusing to enable BattlEye or EAC despite Valve's efforts to make it increasingly simple for devs / publishers to do so).
