Zabbix. In my case I know exactly how many should be connected and I check that number with item and the key has a little regex in it; log.count[C:\Program Files\OpenVPN\log\openvpn-status.log,^client,ANSI,100,all,0]
The trigger expression is a little more tricky because you need to alert on number or no data. avg(/xx-xx/log.count[C:\Program Files\OpenVPN\log\openvpn-status.log,^client,ANSI,100,all,0],#5)<0.2 or nodata(/xx-xx/log.count[C:\Program Files\OpenVPN\log\openvpn-status.log,^client,ANSI,100,all,0],10m)=1
Unfortunately it doesn't appear I will be able to take advantage of the crypto offloading. All my clients are little ARM routers.
