In the US Chamber Of Commerce memo of 1971, Lewis Powell said that the elite that own the corporations should start using them to push their own interests instead of allowing 'anti-American' (anticapitalist and antiwar) activities. It called for the consolidation of press sector and the use of press sector to push 'American' values and fighting against anti-war crowd. It advocated the private universities reject or expel students that were a risk to the system. In the following years, especially starting with Reagan, the establishment literally implemented all of the advice in that document, and Powell went on to become a supreme court judge who helped that process of privatizing the entire US, including the press.
