Anonymous Releases 128GB Data Showing Russia's Illegal Surveillance of Citizens
- h2odragon 4y agoonto the flamewar then: are these people heroes or traitors? or does it not matter 'cuz anybody who thought about it already knew that of course everybody's being monitored by their government, any other government that cares to, all social media, and probably the Spring Hill Tn Jr Hacker's Club for good measure. Or we could perhaps discuss the apparent fact that "privacy" as a concept seems to have escaped the bounds where Law can possibly protect it. Even if there was a government somewhere actually interested in such pursuit.
- LunarAurora 4y agoAs a related thought (in the spirit of the day), IMO these GBs/TBs of Leaks are more useful now that you can query them with "good enough" LLMs. It would be interesting to revisit/index past leaks with sematic search. I wonder what snowden think... no not of the NLP search ! this russia leak (as a "russian")

- HybridCurve 4y agoPutin is a statist who believes the citizens of his country exist to serve it's (and effectively his) interests. Therefore, Snowden will express whatever opinion is most beneficial to the state as it will be the least detrimental to him.
- jacooper 4y agoYou can't teun those LLM models locally though, would upload all of this data to the cloud? Along with all of its legal liabilities? Also snowden has already given enough, the man has kids now, he doesn't praise or attack Russia for a reason, because he know he can't partial to it, and he knows he has no other place to stay in.
- jacooper 4y agoWould you* He can't be* Typos as usual.
- LunarAurora 4y ago> You can't teun those LLM models locally though ... all of its legal liabilities? There are complete Leaks already online/public (like wikileaks.org). Also, I believe you can do vector search (and even AI summarization) locally. For TBs though, I don't know, yeah, it is maybe too intensive. > Also snowden ... no other place to stay in. Fair enough
- mensetmanusman 4y agoThis group shows how intelligence agencies can get very useful information out of these leaks: https://www.bellingcat.com/news/uk-and-europe/2022/10/24/the-remote-control-killers-behind-russias-cruise-missile-strikes-on-ukraine/ https://www.bellingcat.com/news/uk-and-europe/2022/10/24/the...
- hulitu 4y ago> Anonymous Releases 128GB Data Showing Russia's Illegal Surveillance of Citizens Let me guess, they tried with American surveillance but the hard drive was too small so they decided on a country which does not collect so much data. /s
