What's your advice to someone learning DSA for interviews
Problems I'm facing:
1) How long should I wait before I can't find a solution with my own brain?
2) Understand the solution when read it, but could not create the solution by myself.
3) Brain not picking up and solving problems. Dependent on solutions.
- brudgers 4y agoIf you don't have work experience with it -- whatever DSA is -- then your knowledge is approximately at the "aware of DSA" level. It is not going to be professional competence. If an interview requires professional competence in DSA, you won't pass unless you are lucky or the interview doesn't actually require professional competence (and that's worse if professional competence is an actual hit the ground running requirement). I mean if you can spend three weeks learning DSA for an interview, you could probably learn more about DSA from one week on the job...whatever DSA is. Good luck.
- marssaxman 4y agoI've seen this term "DSA" used in reference to job interviews before, and all they mean by it is "Data Structures and Algorithms", i.e. the basics. Not sure why it needs an acronym, but apparently some university programs use the term.
- brudgers 4y agoThanks. I googled “DSA computer” and got what looked like a institutional security authentication protocol. I think that makes my opinions more on point. From a practical standpoint, familiarity is probably enough for most jobs and professional expertise is only going to come from professional experience.
